Look-Alikes: Madison Chock

As I was watching Madison Chock skate her Dr. Zhivago FS with Evan Bates, I had a nagging feeling that she looked like someone else. My mind wandered to Les Miz… and then, I got it. When her face was at certain angles, she looked like Lea Salonga who’s had quite the musical career.

In case you were wondering about Lea Salonga’s musical career, here is one of the best renditions of “On My Own.” Ever.

Do you think they look alike? Or do you have any look-alikes you want to share? Let me know!

Highlights of the 2013 World Championships

The World Championships are over but hey, the season’s not over yet! We still have the World Team Trophy. I’ll put up predictions closer to the date, as well as some other end of season posts but for now, let’s think about the positive and put the spotlight on some amazing skates at Worlds this year. Predictions: World Championships 2013

Ahhhhhhh!!! It’s been a crazy week for me so far. I’ve been away from home and didn’t have time to write predictions. That and it’s been so crazy that I didn’t realize Worlds started yesterday until I woke up saw a few messages on facebook. I know the men and pairs SP have already passed and the ladies SP is starting now but I’ll make these quick predictions anyways. Without looking at the results so far. So it’s like I made predictions, right?

Ice, Sweat and Tears

This figure skating documentary was on CBC recently. An entertaining watch that somewhat reeks of Skate Canada promoting Worlds and Canadian figure skating, though the choice to highlight Paige Lawrence and Rudi Swiegers is a little bit confusing. Maybe they got picked because of Paige’s drive. It’s admittedly impressive. Nonetheless, Duhamel and Radford have a slim but possible chance at bronze if enough people screw up, hence my confusion. Anyways, without further ado…

All in all, the documentary was pretty cool in that it highlighted how hard figure skating is as a sport. Marina is also awesome and hilarious.

P.S. A Worlds predictions post is on its way.

When Kaitlyn Weaver Passed her Canadian Citizenship Test…

I was wandering about the intertubes looking for stuff when I stumbled upon this site! And this picture!

kaitlyn citizen

When I saw the picture, I just thought, “Hey! That person looks familiar!” I’m pretty sure that’s Kaitlyn Weaver and the funny thing is, the caption for the picture is, “this could be you.” I’m guessing this is a picture of her after she pledged her allegiance to the Queen and her heirs in her citizenship ceremony. Yes, if you want to be Canadian, you have to swear your loyalty to the Queen of England. I don’t get it either.

In any case, if you want to find out if you can pass the citizenship test, the multiple choice quiz at the bottom (with some modified answers for humour) is kind of fun. See if you have the knowledge to be a Canadian citizen!
