A Facebook Message from Florent Amodio – Music with Lyrics Allowed

While I was on facebook today, I saw this post from Florent Amodio’s fanpage:

Proposition 167 has been voted on, starting from the 2014/2015 season, like ice dance, music with lyrics an be used in competition by pairs and single skaters.

Not that it stopped Florent from doing it before it was permitted. He may have Nikolai Morozov to thank for that.

I shudder to think what Morozov will do with this rule change…

Opinions? I’ll formulate mine after I digest the news.

OMG ! It’s gonna be so great !!! I can’t wait to watch them skate to Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Black Eyes Peas or any popular music… in competitions ! And what about David Guetta ? Celine Dion ? Shitty Music for Shitty choregraphy, Morozov must be soooo happy ! And even for music i like to listen, i’m not sure i want to see any of them skate on it … *sigh* Seriously, i don’t know what to think about it. There is a lot of skaters who can “feel” classical music (more and more recently) and skate it, let’s say, correctly so, maybe, just maybe, skating to music they like or listen will help them to be more watchable …
And for Amodio, i read an interview where he said that knowing he didn”t have a chance for a medal for worlds 2011, he decides (with his coach) that he would use the lyrics.

Oh Florent, so hotheaded. His insistence on being who he is is admirable though it gives him tunnel vision. I suppose that’s Florent’s biggest strength and weakness on the ice. He has the personality to pull a lot of quirky programs off but he’s not very well rounded like Daisuke Takahashi or Stephane Lambiel.
