Moment in History: This Day Last Year… sort of (Part I)

***Correction: I wrote this post a day too early so pretend it was published the next day.

So last year, on this day on the lunar calendar, something super special happened. You don’t remember? Well, first of all, it was the first day of the year of the Tiger.

The special thing happened in Canada. And on the Gregorian calendar, it was Singles Awareness Day Valentine’s Day.

Still don’t remember what happened?

Shen and Zhao set a world record for their short program at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. They were the first to skate but no team was as magical as these two that evening. Sadly, there are no videos on youtube so you’ll have to settle with the Skate America version (If someone finds the Olympics version, please send me a link!):

To end, a picture that is rather fitting for today:

(Apparently no rabbits were hurt in the taking of this picture.) Today is the last day of the year of the Tiger and tomorrow will be the year of the Rabbit!

Happy Lunar New Year~!

I think (?) you’re in Canada. If so, you can watch the entire Olympic pairs short program here:
