Joubert is hanging onto the French Crown

Despite having a bit of a rough season at the grand prix series, Joubert is fending off his fellow countrymen for the French crown at Nationals this week. Florent Amodio (who took the French crown last year) has been having a great season so far, as he – unlike Joubert who had to withdraw in his 2nd GP competition – made it all the way to the finals and placed 6th. (Or last, depending on how you want to look at it.) I’ve been looking for actual videos of French Nationals (shaky cam vids at least!) but they haven’t surfaced yet. Hopefully, Joubert fans will have them up soon and I’ll have links to them here. According to news reports, he skated a “near flawless” program while Florent fell twice. No news on Preaubert’s SP. Here are the scores for the top 3 after the short program:

1. Brian Joubert 77.21 points
2. Alban Préaubert 74.53
3. Florent Amodio 67.21

In other news, Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzat are dominating the competition at French Nationals but that doesn’t come as much of a surprise. I’ll expect a gold medal around their necks at Europeans now that Federica Faiella and Massimo Scali are injured as they’ve withdrawn from Italian Nationals. Not that it’ll affect them in any way if Faiella and Scali want to go to Worlds.

Hope you’re having a lovely day!

Hi, i’m from Italy and i would like to know, how do you know that Federica Faiella and Massimo Scali have withdrawn from the europeans in Bern?
I didn’t find any news about that… are you sure of not being confusing??
The news of the day is that they withdrew from the italian championships that are going on this weekend due to a back problem of Federica but i think and hope that they will be able to challenge Nathalie and Fabian in january! 🙂

Wah! Thank you for pointing that out! I’ll go edit that now. *edits* It turns out I misread the announcement. So, they have yet to withdraw from Euros but they are withdrawing from Italian Nationals. Not that it really matters since I’m sure they’ll be given a spot for Worlds anyways.
